Pocahaunted split? In two?
The new Pocahaunted LP Make It Real is also the new Pocahaunted band featuring Amanda Brown (one of the 2 original Poca-girls) and a new lineup – Cameron Stallones guitar, guitarist (and husband) Britt Brown, bassist/vocalist Diva Dompe, keyboardist/vocalist Leyna Tilbor and drummer Ged Gengras. Most blurbs about this record seem to avoid the tabloidy breakup like the plague but I’m thinking two are going to be better than one. Call me a dreamer.
Because Make it Real rocks. It rocks like classic rock. Sure we’ve lost some of that psychedelic hippie repetitious drone and native chant but in its stead we’ve got tunes. Call me old fashioned but tunes can be infectious. They can highlight musicianship and groove, tell a story and get your head & body into the game. They can funkin’ rock and make it real! But don’t just take my word for it…
Bethany Cosentino the other original Poca-girl (who left the band to go to college in NY according to Amanda) is now Best Coast which I’m hoping will be as good as the new Pocahaunted. Based on the 7 inchers they’ve released – go girl groups! – not to mention the crazy $50? prices all of them are fetching on eBay I’d say things are looking very up for Best Coast.
